Let's show a little gratitude
Yesterday I saw a blog in passing, I think it was called Three Beautiful Things. The blogger wrote about just that three beautiful things that happened that day.
It got me to thinking that my husband and I spend a lot of time complaining or lamenting about how bad our day was, or how much money we DON'T have, or that it is too cold, or too hot.
So today as I was outside raking those ever present fall leaves I leaned on my rake and thought what was I thankful for today. Besides the obvious of waking up, there was the beautiful day with a deep blue sky and a slight breeze just enough to blow your hair but not enough to ruin your leaf pile a warm 70. Then there was the phone call about a job interview and the smell of my pot roast simmering in the crock pot. My parents call from their mini vacation to the Biltmore to tell me how much fun they were having, so much fun my mom said she wasn't sure that she could get my dad to head home tomorrow. To the joy in my sister's voice who like me was so happy that our parents were happy.
Gosh that is quite a list for the day. Let me say as I read back that in my single days the smell of a pot roast would not have been that exciting to me, well unless I was in college and had come home for Sunday lunch and mom was the cook and I had only eaten Ramon Noodles all week!!! Boy how life changes.
