Tire Time
My morning was spent in the waiting area of Belle Tire while they put four new tires on my husband's truck.
When I go to do such errands I pack a bag of items to keep me occupied(food, soda, crossword puzzles, books, cross-stitch, etc) and calm just as a mother would for her child on a long car trip. It always amazes me how has you sit there you can watch your co-waiters blood pressure go up. Today at least there was a television set on a station that I watch so I got caught up on my Regis and Kelly, Martha, and The View.
My co-waiters today consisted of a retired lady who was a diabetic and didn't eat before coming to the tire shop so you can imagine her impatience that it took them longer than the one hour promised. After hearing that I felt guilty that I had sat there and ate my snacks in front of her. If I had known I would have shared( although I don't know how healthy my Nutter Butters would have been). There was the impatient business man who brought his own large coffee and was totally disinterested in the television, and did not begin his pacing until he had throuroghly read the newspaper. There was the young woman who came to get a new tire, but didn't bring the rim of the old tire?? The older couple came in when I was about to leave and were totally annoyed that The View was on , not being fams of Rosie O'Donnell, they called her motor mouth. And me who spent my time watching, listening, crosswording and reading. Really of those waiting I am sure I had the best time and the lowest blood pressure.
My philosophy is when you go to do something where you know there is a high probability to have to wait then be prepared, be calm, and not schedule something else for the day. We have become a society of people that want everything immediately and infortunately not everything can be done in a matter of seconds. I for one dont' want them speeding through putting tires on a vehicle that my husband might be driving 75 mph on a busy interstate.
