A Squeaking Floor

Is there "Any Wife" out there who has tried pouring baby powder on the squeaky spot in the floor?

I recently read on MSN Lifestyle that this is a quick fix to a squeaky floor. Well since I live in a house built in 1968 and just about every step I take is accompanied by a creak I thought I would try this. Apparently I have not perfected the process. Do you think it would matter if I used a generic baby powder? What I used made the floor very slippery in the spot I tested, but did not stop the creak/squeak.

Guess I will look at the bright side of a squeaking floor....Who needs an alarm? I can hear someone walk across the floor from anywhere in my house.
