My South
My husband and I on Saturday drove to the university that he is obtaining his Masters Degree. He needed something from the bookstore. While we were in line I scanned through a stack of $1 books. On top was one titled "My South". Standing in Michigan to see that title caught this southern girl's eye.
"My South A People, A Place, A World Of It's Own " Based on Works By Robert St. John this book of poems shows the south through the eyes of it's inhabitants. Many of the poems touched on how I fell about my south.
As I read this book I might occasionally share with you some of my favorites.
"My South is a peace abiding in me offering her song of silence,
her word of welcome, her tree of comfort, her sky of spirits, her
peace of living where I belong, despite my birthplace.
Knowing all along this is my heritage."
This is my home
