DOG VS NO DOG

Okay I am throwing this out there with a huge risk of ridicule.

First, let me say I do not hate animals. I grew up on a farm and give me a outside pig, cow, sheep or horse and I am happy. But put me with a dog in a house and I am miserable. Now we live in the city and our yard is not large enough for an outside dog, plus it is Michigan and the winters would be brutal.

Second, on the side of my husband when he was a child his family always had pets. They actually had a cat that had its' own chair and if you happened to be sitting in it when he decided he wanted it, you GOT UP ASAP!!!

Third, on our third date, I specifically told my husband that I NEVER wanted an inside pet, dog, cat, or bird. So he did not go into this arrangement blind.

Fourth, he is so particular about anything that we have getting a scratch on it. No joke he actually double checks our leather furinture after each visit to make sure no one scratches it and if they did he never wants to invite them over again. So what would he do if a cat or dog ruined out stuff which they inevitably will?

So now all he tries to do is force me into having an inside pet. Who is wrong? Him or Me

There is a sidebar to this story in which I will give in to his demand. I offered him a deal that if he moved me back to Tennessee (my home state) this year 2006 then he could have a pet.

What part of TN? My husband is from the Chattanooga area.

I say wait on getting a dog. Sounds like you don't want one, and he doesn't really want to deal with the potential furniture problems of owning a pet.

If you get a dog, I'd consider getting one that's no longer in the puppy stage. Also, researching the breeds might help you both to find one that you'll be compatible with.

Thanks you gave sound advice. I'll keep you informed.

I am from Beechgrove, TN. Very small spot halfway between Chattanooga and Nashville.
