Macy's, Dillards, and Bealls

Macy's, Dillards, and Bealls the customer service I received today.

I am looking for a dress for my sister-in-laws wedding. Somehow my body has shifted(couldn't be that I am a coach potato) and all the dresses I like don't like me. But I am digressing from the reason for the post.

Bealls, I really didn't expect to find the dress for the occasion, but the store was new and I hadn't been in a Bealls since returning to Florida. The store was beautiful with a very upscale appearance. From what I could see there were some good values, too. I know I got a pair of leather Docker shoes for $18. But what floored me was the lack of customer service. I saw lots of associates. I actually stood next to one while she straightened the purses on the same rack and she didn't even say HI. The same thing happened in the shoe department. At several of the departments I did see buttons you could push if you needed help. I really didn't after seeing the dress selection was a bit casual(cute but casual) for what I wanted. I'll shop there again and hope that at least the folks working there say HI!!!

Macy's, again a beautiful store. I was greeted at the front door with a Good Morning and I bet that every department I went into someone said something to me. I like that. It wasn't a pressure greeting, simply a HI, Hello, How's your day. Although I didn't find the dress I wanted I did find the service I appreciate. I'll be back.

Dillards, trusty Dillards, another beautiful store. I wasn't greeted at the door(but I don't really expect that), but I was greeted throughout the store. Once when a group of employees were talking they stopped the conversation and one of them greeted me. Here the dress department was phenomenal. I actually had to split my trip because I was having lunch with the better half. The associate was gracious to hold a couple of dresses until I returned to finish my search. Although the associate didn't help me find dresses she was available at both my visits.

I worked retail for many years and I am always surprised now when I go into a store and no one says Hello. Don't get me wrong I was in management I know all the cuts in payroll to decrease the budget, but I always told my people you can at least say HI and make yourself available if needed then go about your other duties. Today some stores did better than others. My husband says I am just picky because I had to be cheerful and helpful for all those years that I want payback now. Who knows maybe I am just a jerk customer who wants too much.

But to Dillards I say, I walked out with 4 dresses today because of the selection and service.
