March 27, 1967 Happy Birthday
Well today is my birthday. 41, unemployed, and thankfully healthy and with a terrific husband.
My mother sent me with a wonderful check a book on what was going on in 1967.
- U.S. Troops in Vietnam increased from 300,000 to 474,300
- Three U.S. astronauts die in flash fire
- U.S. Population reaches 200 Million
- Elvis and Priscilla marry in Las Vegas (wondered if they ever dreamed of "Dancing with the Stars"
- Thurgood Marshall becomes the first Black to be appointed to the Supreme Court
- Green Bay Packers won the Super Bowl
- Cardinals won the World Series
- Average Income $7305.00 (I don't make that now)
- New Car Cost $2,724.00
- New House Cost $14,425.00 (Wish I could refinance my house on that amount, heck I could pay it off)
- Gas Cost .33 ( I paid 3.19 on Monday)
- Gallon of Milk Cost $1.15 ( I paid $3.00 for half gallon yesterday)
- Minimum Wage $1.40
- Life Expectancy 70.2 years ( I hope it is a bit longer now)
I wonder what it will be like in another 41 years.
