Annie Freeman's Fabulous Traveling Funeral by Kris Radish
I wasted my morning in bed. Told my husband that I didn't plan on leaving the room unless he planned something cheap for us to do. A waste right? I did get out of bed only because I was worried about my man. If he didn't go out and do something we would be in for one terrible day. So off on his motorcycle he went and I waited. When he returned after a brief visit to Sonic for a Sundae we came home for together time.
So I sat down to finish Annie Freeman's Fabulous Traveling Funeral. About a wonderful giving friend who dies of cancer, but before dying plans a traveling funeral for her closes friends. Who might I say were all giving loving above average woman that even in fiction make me look wasteful of the life god has given me.
I read the final pages on my screened in lanai with my husband next to me reading Fahrenheit 451. A slight breeze blowing through the Grand Live Oak behind our house and our little bird "Riley" in his cage trying to talk to the mocking birds. Although no work was being done, no lives being saved it was a great way to spend time on a Saturday afternoon. Yes, maybe a bit selfish, but still a time I will remember for the closeness and warmth I felt from my husband.
My sister shared this book with me. She said she bought it strictly because she loved the title, but then fell in love with the book. It is a kick in the pants for me. Being unemployed and $$$ poor I have taken for granted family, friends and neighbors. I hope no more. No more of the mornings that I had this beautiful Saturday. to think I wasted 4 hours of a great day and a great life.
Buy the book, borrow the book, go to your local library where you can check out the book for free. But please read it.
