Backflow Valve on our Irrigation System

8:45 pm last night our doorbell rang and our neighbor informed us that some pipe outside our house was spewing water and it had obviously been for awhile since our beautiful St. Augustine Grass was saturated.

My husband was able to stop the water flow, but we were unsure of it would cause some backup in the house (at that time we didn't know it was part of the irrigation system). We called the 24 hour emergency plumbing number that our builder gave us 3 times with no return call. Finally we decided that we knew they got our message and if they didn't call back then it wasn't an emergency. We were right our warranty rep called this a.m. to explain that it was on our irrigation system and the valve had gone bad and we did the right thing to turn it off.

I hate it that we have no common sense when it comes to fixing stuff around our house.

This weekend I might get bold and try to put up a ceiling fan.
